Avantis Estate was established in 1994 by the  economist Apostolos Mountrichas. The winery owns 20 hectares of vineyards in Central Evia – Afrati region. It has gained Global distinctions for the supreme quality of its wines, with 300+ medals,  from International Wine Competitions. It is included in the top ten (10) Greek wineries.

The winemaker Apostolos Mountrichas is a Syrah expert, he revived an ancient indigenous Euboean red grape ‘Mavrokoudoura’ (Black Koudoura) and he is the one who made Euboea a famous Greek winegrowing region.

Also the red wine “Avantis Estate Syrah” – the Avantis landmark wine, won the best medal for a Greek wine in the Japan Wine Competition 2016, along with its gold medal.

The last 2 years Avantis Estate is cooperating with the Agricultural University of Athens in oenological research on indigenous yeasts of the grape varieties they grow.
